Thank you for a superb 2011...

As we reach the end of 2011, I thought it was time to take a look back at some of my images from the past 12 months, and put together a gallery of some of my favourite images from the year... I've selected one image from each month, and tried to pick from right across my spectrum of work.

...and what a year it's been. I moved to Leicester last Christmas and havn't look back since. Relocating is always a scary thing, especially when moving your business too, but the City and it's people have been incredibly welcoming and business has flourished since I ventured back up to my spiritual home - the midlands.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone I have met and/or worked with over the last twelve months for your Friendship, Support, and of course Business! - Here's to many more years of Happy Snapping!

Business Headshots

First impressions are very important in business, and can set the tone for all your future dealings with a perspective client. That first impression can be the deal breaker between creating a long lasting relationship and turning sales away for good. Nowadays, many first encounters will take place through either your website or social media (Facebook, Twitter LinkedIn Youtube etc) so are your photographs really selling the quality of you and your business?

I recently had The Social Media Sorcerer, Helen Palmer into my Leicester studio in order to create some 'friendly and approachable' photographs for use right across her online presence. The aim of Helen's work is to make sure businesses make the most of the new opportunities presented by the rise of social media. As such, she sees having professional headshots as an important part of creating the right first impression.

 

Another set of headshots I did recently were for Leicester Based Financial Advisor (IFA) Simon Houseman from Stirling McCall(Stirling McCall). As an IFA the headshots needed to express the hard working, serious nature of the work, but that didn't stop us from getting a few more jovial images too.

 

While using myself as a model to set the lighting for the shoot, I also snapped this image of myself, which I will be using from now on as an alternative to my usual suited and booted profile shot.

'Everyone Active' Triathlon Day

I've often heard people say "Photographers don't do early starts do they?", so when my alarm went off at 4:15am last Thursday I thought I may have stumbled into the wrong profession. However , there was a good reason to be up so early, and that was the 'Everyone Active Triathlon day'. The day saw 100+ gym instructors and members completing 8 Triathlons in 8 different 'Everyone Active' gyms between Watford and Portsmouth in one day, with the aim of raising £50,000 for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. I was knackered by the end of the day, but not half as tired as the guys and girls running, cycling and swimming their way to a massive fundraising total! Well done all!
